When Scouting was allowed to return in 2020 the group was in contact with the organisation who run the Methodist Church. The group helped them to tidy up the outside, inside and prepare the building for the group and service users return. Sadly the number of Church users dwindled over time which resulted in the church no longer being able to function as intended. The group has carried on working along side the organisation who run the church allowing our Beaver, Cub and Scout sections to continue using the building.

In early 2022 the decision was taken by the organisation who run the church to sell the building. The group has been informed that it is likely that within the next 12 months we will lose access to the church facilities. This has resulted in the risk of the group closing due to the lack of facilities on our existing site. We will be fundraising for two separate projects over the next few months.

Project 1: Fresh Water Supply

We require a fresh water supply for our site. This will provide clean drinking water and allow washing facilities to be installed. This means we will be able to easily provide clean, healthy hygenic activities for the sections and allow them to drink to their hearts content. We have got a quote for £3000 to allow the works to be done. The company chosen by the trustee board is Heffernan Utilities. They have agreed to help the group at a slightly discounted rate and are providing some of the hardware for free!

Project 2: Toilet Facilities

After drinking all that lucious fresh drinking water our young people will need use the toilet at some point. For this we have chosen to look at getting a toilet block added onto our existing building. We currently do not have a price for this but this page will be updated once a quote has been obtained. The toilet facilities that are added onto our building will be disability friendly and will allow us to continue the Scouting ethic of the movement being for everyone.
